How this website came to fruition:

I have always wondered when reading mail advertisements, receiving unsolicited phone calls, and saying “no thank you” to pushy door to door sales people if there was really any savings by switching my natural gas supplier. So one day this past winter (2012) I spent the better part of an afternoon visiting each alternative natural gas suppliers website and compiling a list of plans and rates that were available to me. After this exercise I started to get the idea for my own website to publish this information all in one spot, for all the major regulated utilities in Michigan. Anyone who might be wondering what the cheapest rate for natural gas is and from whom they can get it can probably figure it out in about 2 minutes using this website. My goal is for the these lists of alternative energy suppliers prices and plans to serve as a useful evaluation tool for the residential consumer in Michigan’s deregulated natural gas marketplace. Prices are updated often and stored for a historical overview so that a residential customer might get a sense of the cost savings (if any) he or she might achieve by switching natural gas suppliers.  Comments sections are available to answer questions and for discussing customer experiences.
